Rory and Finn's Room

With the recent transition of our boys sleeping in the same room, I have enjoyed the process of transforming their room. I have been purchasing things here and there the last couple of months leading up to the finished project.

My mind set for the room was it had to be simple and modern. My base colors were grey, white, and orange. I wanted to add a pop of color that was unisex, that is why I chose the color orange (hoping for a girl next). The bedding I found online at Argington. This brought the color orange in. I chose different patterns to add texture and uniqueness to the room.

The difficult part was finding good quality and clean line furniture that wouldn't break my budget. Modern furniture is expensive. I bought four pieces, a twin bed, crib, dresser, and storage unit for the boys toys. The twin bed I found in San Francisco on Craigslist. It is a white wooden bed frame from West Elm. The crib I found at Buy Buy Baby. The dresser and storage unit I found at IKEA.

The fun part was putting it all together with wall decor and floor coverings. They have a lot of wall space that I wanted to cover. I found letters I like at Anthropologie, but they were eighteen dollars for each letter. I didn't want to spend that much, so I decided to try to make something similar to them. I found paper mache letters and silver spray paint. When it dried it gave the impression that it was metal. Then I applied velcro on the back of each letter to place them on the wall. I used picture ledges from IKEA for their bookshelves, I have seen this idea on Pinterest. It is a cute way to display the children's book's and it fills up an empty wall space. The "San Francisco Loves ABC" poster I found online at Mr. Boddington's Studio. The chevron ombre tile is from Target. Last but not least the rug. This piece is what brought the room together and you can find it at IKEA

Here are the before and after pictures:
