Trip To The Bay

Last week the boys and I made a trip down to the bay, which I needed. The last few weeks I have kind of experienced what it is like to be a single mom. My husband has been working out of town six days each week in the Bay Area for his job. I only get to see him one day a week, because he is staying there since it is three hours away from home and he's working ten hour days. It has now been three weeks into the job and we only have one more week to go, hopefully.

The first two weeks couldn't have been better (sarcasm). Mama got sick with the cold, then Finn, then Rory. Second week Finn got a ear infection from the cold and his two front teeth came through, so I didn't get hardly any sleep the first two weeks. However, I am blessed to have my mom and grandma live near me, they let me stay with them a couple of nights those weeks, which helped me catch up on some sleep. Which leads me to last week, Jared and I decided that the boys and I come down to stay with him a couple nights and the boys and I could have fun while Jared worked then meet him later after he was done working. I am always down for a trip to the Bay.We stayed there for three nights and had two full days.

The first day we went to Emeryville and my mom and grandma met up with us. To do some shopping. My favorite part was finding Bay Street, you got to go check it out if you ever go there, it is a great place to shop.

The second day it was just the boys and I and we spent the day in San Francisco, my favorite city. Rory has gone a couple times before, but this time he was able to explore the city. I enjoyed listening to him and I was so proud of him asking questions and learning. Some of the things he noticed was when we were driving on the bay bridge, going through a tunnel, and when we past the SFO airport and seeing the planes when they were landing and taking off, he would say "whoa tunnel!" "Bridge mama" and "look mama a airplane! Vroom!" And when we were driving up and down the hills in the city, he would raise his hands up in the air like a ride and say "woohoo!" The skyscrapers amazed him too "wow mama what's that?"

We went to three places while we were in San Francisco Dynamo Donuts, Koret Children's Quarter, and spent time on Chestneut Street. Dynamo Donuts is a coffee and donut shop that make unique flavored donuts, this is not your typical donut shop. For instance some of the donuts we had were pistachio lemon, passion fruit with milk chocolate shavings, maple bacon, and Molasses Guiness Pear (which is one I saved for Jared). After this I took the boys to Koret Childrens Quarter, located in the Golden Gate Park. It is huge and there are many activities for children to play with like swings, water exhibit, sandbox, playgrounds to accommodate little and big kids, a carousel, hot dog stand, and so much more. Rory liked it a lot and his favorite part was the carousel. After this we drove to Chestnut street, which is a street where locals usually go to enjoy lunch, coffee and tea, and browse around some cute shops. It is not touristy at all, which I like and I enjoyed finding a local deli, Blue Barn, and visiting a adorable modern children store, Giggle. All in all it was a good day, I had fun and the boys did too. Here are some pictures of our little trip, enjoy.
